IN-DEPTH: Link In life, Mordred grew up quickly, idolizing King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and wanted very much to join their group. She had no idea this was exactly what her mother, Morgan, wanted until after she'd become a knight and learned she was actually the king's child. Revealing this to the king did not go well and things continue to not go well from there with Mordred rebelling against the kingdom and a giant mess happening that results in Camelot destroyed and Mordred dead. But in Fate, if you're a historical figure, death usually isn't the end of the story as centuries later, Mordred's summoned as a Servant to fight in the Holy Grail War where she can get a wish granted if her and her Master win. It's originally team vs. team and as Mordred and her Master get through some of the early fights okay, but everything pretty much falls apart after the first major battle with one of the officiator's taking over the Red team and making a giant mess of everything. They've just scored a big win by eliminating one of the Casters and formed a truce with the remnants of the Black team because it's better to work together against the Red team for the time being. PERSONALITY Mordred is a contradictory mess right down to her core. Despite the whole betrayal and rebellion thing, she still idolizes and clings to the concept of knighthood despite being recorded in history and myth as the knight most likely to betray. She loves her father and wants to be acknowledged by the king, but also has a sword powered by her hatred of her dad and kind of ruined Camelot forever. And turns out when you're a contradictory mess, you tend to have a lot of anger, both misplaced and not. Especially since Mordred doesn't really do a ton of introspection at this point because that's a pain in the ass, and everything else is a pain in the ass so touching on anything she has issues about is going to set her off. Camelot and King Arthur are definitely touchy subjects. Bringing up she's a girl's one too. She is, but she has a habit of taking it as people saying she can't be a knight or become king because of that, so she's going to want to punch them in the face. Calling her a guy when she's not is also a good way to set her off and get decked. So it's best to just tread carefully around her. But it's worth noting that at this point, she's spent more time around people and while she still hasn't done a lot of introspection and working on addressing the unending inner turmoil, she has made some improvements. She hasn't betrayed her Master, in fact, other than hitting on a couple of touchy subjects at the start, they've gotten along well. And she's maybe putting a little bit of thought into figuring out those contradictions and who she wants to be. Not a lot, but some! Maybe! QUIRK IN-DEPTH: Much like Krampus, Mordred will feel the need to punish misbehavior, misdeeds, wrongdoing, and so on either by smacking them with a branch or for worse cases wanting to throw them into her bag. The fact that someone known for rebellion and treachery is compelled to do this hopefully won't be lost on her. ABILITIES WEAPON:A tree branch for now. STYLE: Physical! She's primarily a sword user, but Mordred will absolutely kick and scratch and bite and pretty much anything else to take her opponent down. -As she uses her essence abilities, her appearance will become more Krampus-like, gaining horns and fur. Upgrade from May campaign: Her strength is slightly boosted as she becomes more monstrous. -She can summon spooky chains that make spooky noises. With some time and work, she'll probably be able to summon more and incorporate them with her monstrous appearance to replicate her armor, but that's still a ways off. Upgrade from May campaign: She can manipulate the chains a little and cause them to move independently of her. Not much though. -She'll also get the ability to store things in a magic Krampus bag! Upgrade from May campaign: Mordred can now remove things from the bag. -Instead of her super cool sword which she will definitely miss, she'll get the ability to summon a tree branch for smacking people. Won't be super effective yet unless she's smacking them for their misdeeds, otherwise it'll just be like getting hit with a normal tree branch (which probably still isn't fun). Upgrade from May campaign: The branch has taken on markings similar to her sword and has a slight damage boost against wrongdoers. -Gained from May campaign: Mordred can now summon a small snowman. It doesn't do anything yet. -Gained from May campaign: Mordred can also create a snowglobe. Neat? |
